Homemade Foaming Hand Soap

Who doesn't love foaming soap? I love the stuff!
Foaming soap you can get from the store is already 90% water,  and of course 10% yucky, bad, gross, earth damaging, gunk! SO.... Let's make it ourselves!!
Because everything eco-green and natural is awesome...

p.s. the foaming action is all in the bottle...not the special soap.

Check this stuff out!!

~What You'll need~

Foaming bottle (We just bought a bottle of foam soap from the store and dumped out the junk and rinsed the bottle, if you can find an empty foaming bottle somewhere....that would be better...but....whatever)
Olive oil, coconut oil, or vegetable glycerin
Water
Castile soap
Essential oils, if so desired

1 Cup Water
1 1/2 Tbs. Castile Soap
1 Tsp. of the choice oil or vegetable glycerin
Essential oils if so desire

You have to put the water in first!! Add castile soap to water, not water to castile! Otherwise you'll get weird flaky castile chunkies. :) So, just put the water in first then add all the other stuff. If you are using scented castile soap you could either drop the essential oils or make it blend beautifully. ;) We used lavender castile soap and didn't use any essential oils. Although some lemon would be great with the lavender...hum...I should try that. Anyway...once it's all added you can just shake it up a bit and pump that baby....voila!! Awesome foamy soap!!! Now go impress somebody......

Some of my newer creations....

(This post is for you Cousin A.H. :) )

My skirt I made from an old button up of Dad's.

On this skirt I didn't straighten the bottom. But on my other one I did because the length difference was way drastic.

The other one I made.

How would you match navy blue? Both of these skirts were just testers really. I would love to try it some more and try new things. Like maybe you could sew up the middle and put a zipper on it...that way you wouldn't have to worry about the buttons revealing too much (my reason I wear leggings).

This one was straightened and hemmed.

Yep, that's my twin. :)

This hat is a bit big...but if the hair is right it doesn't look too bad. :)

Here's the blue yarn!!! Yay. :)

There's a little bit of a closer view on the pattern...which was a lot of fun. :)

What's your newest creation?

Fudge babies....

No, I haven't vanished....I'm still alive, just caught up in life.....

I got an great recipe here you need to try! Totally easy and healthy!
They are awesome!!! They are nutty, sweet, chocolatey....well....that's about all because that's all that's in them. ;)
Anyway...go give it a try...

Yummy!!

  • 1 cup walnuts
  • 1 1/3 cups pitted dates
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • optional: 1/8 tsp salt
  • 3-4 tablespoons cocoa powder (I did 4)

  • Blend all the ingredients, using a food processor, blender, etc. There is no need to do it in any weird order just chuck it all in there and wiz! Roll into cute little balls.....or you could press into a square dish of some sorts if you wish for the square look. But, I don't see why...the balls are adorable! :) But, you can do whatever you want. :)

Now you can either not tell anybody and hide them somewhere for your own selfish pleasure or share with you friends and family.....I recommend the latter. :) Enjoy!!

For our family, because we don't eat many sweets, these were already pretty sweet as is. The dates add the sweetness. But, perhaps they are too "dark" for your taste, you could probably add honey or maple syrup.....maybe....I haven't tried it. If you do and they flop and turn out horrible don't blame me. :) No, I'm sure some honey wouldn't hurt them. You may experiment.....

And the applause goes to Chocolate Covered Katie for this delicious recipe. She has some of the coolest recipes!

    Photography....

I love photography and I know many of you guys do too. It is one way I express creativity. I enjoy capturing the moments and I enjoy capturing the abstract things too. Either way...I love it!
I use a Canon T1i, I named him Reilly.....but I'm not totally against any Nikon users. :) My mom is one actually. ;)

    Cherry Blossoms.....

Cherry blossom trees are most definitely one of my favorite trees. They are so gorgeous! They have already put away their flowers and have donned their greenery for the summer. :) But, I have millions of pictures of them in my folders. ;) I honestly believe that if fairies where real, they'd live in cherry blossoms. :)

The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
    Isaiah 40:8

For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
    1 Peter 1:24-25

Who agrees with me that there will be cherry blossom tree in heaven? :)

    Just a bit of randomness...

So, how's everybody enjoying their Spring? I know for some of you your Spring has passed and it's already Summer....but anyway. :) Spring is such a happy time of year, I think. All the flowers and trees and yummy colors!...are just...well...happy. ;)

I knew it was a lot but....I didn't know it was gonna be that much!! :) It was a pretty good deal too! Love it! I'm gonna have lots of blue accessories. :)

    Monumental......

Kirk Cameron, an actor and evangelical christian, is releasing his new documentary, Monumental, this year. Kirk Cameron is probably one of my favorite actors. He stands up for what he believes, which isn't a common trait. As some of you may have read recently his stance on gay marriage and I admire that in someone like him. His outreach, Living Waters, along with Ray Comfort, has touched many people around the world.
I definitely want to watch his new movie Monumental when it comes out!

    Beauty...........???

    video credit raisinghomemakers.com

I knew billboard people did things like this to "enhance" the model.....but I never knew they did so much!...just to make the model more "pretty." :/

I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. Pslams 139:14

Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. Proverbs 31:30

Of course, God wants us to be beautiful. We are supposed to reflect Christ. She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple. (Proverbs 31:22) But, the "loose-sexy-look over here" look is not God's idea of beauty. Why do girls think they have to be ultra thin, perfect hair, and tons of make-up to be pretty?! Mainly it's because that's what the world tells us. That's what the magazines tell us. Those pictures are distorted....obviously. It's sad to see girls that think they need to be this "barbie-girl."

Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. Titus 2:12-14

What's your idea of true beauty?

    Shoes....cheap!!! Recycle!!!

    Hey gals!!!
(And hi to all the guys too....it's just that this post is aimed at the girls. :) )
Have you ever gone to the Goodwill and looked at the shoes only to find that they are pretty much all dog-gone ugly? :) Did it ever accure to you that you could get them at their cheap price and revamp them.....I never really thought of it.....till now... :) Or if you have old shoes that have scuffs or what-not........
    Check out these cute ideas.....

This site shows you how to cover your shoes in fabric...
    http://whipstitchsewing.wordpress.com/2009/12/27/tutorial-fabric-covered-shoes/

This one is about the same....just more pictures.
    http://www.lovemaegan.com/2011/11/houndstooth-shoes-diy.html

    I didn't know you could really dye leather....but here's a tutorial for it!! :)
    http://www.crochetclouds.com/2011/07/diy-dyeing-leather-aka-my-new-favorite.html

Or just adding some flair to your shoes...
    http://craftsnob.com/2011/02/pink-flair-for-mary-jane/
Aren't these just adorable....they remind me of a dear friend (Hi Adeline!) :)

And also sometimes those Goodwill shoes already have little "footsie" marks...... :) And that's pretty easy to revamp as well.....
    http://grosgrainfabulous.blogspot.com/2011/01/shoe-sugar-month-day-16-insole-heaven.html

Now I want to go to the thrift store and buy some shoes to "spiffify." Looks like fun...and cool outcomes. :) Also it's a great way to recycle. :) Oh yah!!!
